A Golden Gift for Bees, Birds, and Chickens

This year’s sunflower garden has been an explosion of color and life here at O’Halloran Farms. Planted entirely from seed, the flowers shot up quickly thanks to the perfect mix of warm days and frequent summer rain. It’s been a joy to watch them grow—tall, strong, and bursting with personality.
We planted several varieties, from classic golden blooms to fiery orange-reds and deep, velvety maroons. Each flower seems to have its own mood and rhythm, adding rich diversity to the garden. They’re not just beautiful to look at—they’re doing a lot of good too.

Our sunflower patch is alive with the gentle buzz of bees. The large, pollen-rich heads provide a much-needed food source for pollinators, while the seeds are a favorite for local birds and a healthy treat for our chickens. It’s a full-circle kind of joy—nurturing nature while it nurtures us right back.
If you’re visiting the farm this summer, be sure to take a walk through our sunflower rows. They’re at their peak right now, glowing in the sunshine and offering the perfect backdrop for a peaceful stroll, photo op, or just a moment to appreciate the beauty of the season.
